'Squaring the Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis)' trailer takes us behind rock's most iconic album covers

You won’t know the title Hipgnosis, however you have undoubtedly seen this artistic duo’s work. You may even have copies of it in your own home proper now.

Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey “Po” Powell, aka Hipgnosis (the G is silent, like lasagna), based the design agency within the late ’60s. And together with later members (together with Peter Christopherson of Throbbing Gristle), they created album covers for a number of the largest names of the Seventies. Essentially the most well-known is Pink Floyd’s Darkish Facet Of The Moon — triangle, rainbow, you realize the one — however there are dozens and dozens extra.

Anton Corbijn — the Dutch photographer and filmmaker, himself no stranger to creating visuals for iconic music(opens in a brand new tab) — has clearly known as in some severe favors to inform the story of Hipgnosis in his new documentary Squaring The Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis). The lineup of speaking heads alone could be a Glastonbury for the ages: Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, Jimmy Web page, Robert Plant, Peter Gabriel, Noel Gallagher, and extra.

Squaring The Circle (The Story of Hipgnosis) opens in New York in June 7, in Los Angeles June 16, with a nationwide growth on June 20.
